Education Department’s Training Course for Pre-primary Teachers

Dharamshala, March 18 – The Education Department of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) is giving an orientation course for pre-primary teachers at the College of Higher Tibetan Studies, Sarah. The training course started on 15 March and it will finish on 1 April 2006.

Kalon Tripa Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche, Kalon for the Education Department Thupten Lungrik and Education Secretary Karma Gelek Yuthok attended the 1st day of the training session and interacted with trainees.

The course covers Montessori system of learning, child-care and education, and role of a teacher. Besides teaching methodology, the trainees will be introduced to the Basic Education Policy of the CTA and the traditional system of education.

The Education Department divided the trainees into two batches. The first batch with 32 pre-primary teachers from 23 Tibetan schools is presently undergoing the course. Their course will finish on 23 March and from 24 March onwards the training for second batch will begin. The second batch has 36 participants from 25 schools.
