Paris, March 10 – More than 50 Tibetans and Tibet supporters braved the cold weather in Paris today to witness the hoisting of the Tibetan National Flag at the regional Council of Ile de France.

Ile de France passed a resolution last year to fly the Tibetan Flag on March 10 every year. Mr. Jamphel Choesang, the representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, read the March 10 statement. Mr. Wangpo Bashi from Bureau du Tibet, Paris, read the statement in French.

Later in the afternoon, Tibetans and Tibet supporters gathered at Hotel de Ville, the city hall of Paris, which had also hoisted the Tibetan Flag in solidarity with the Tibetan issue.

Speaking at the occassion, Mr. Patrick Bloche, Depute, National Assembly, Vice-President of the Tibet group in the French Parliament, said that the Tibetan issue is a struggle for “truth and justice.” Mr. Jamphel Choesang thanked the French government and the people of France for their support and hoped that France will be able to play a major role in assisting the Tibetan cause.

The Tibetan community in France is organising a peace march on the 12th of this month. The march will begin from Trocadero, opposite Eiffel Tower and finish in front of the Chinese Embassy in Paris.
