Workshop for University Students from October 1

Dharamshala September 26 – The New Delhi Tibetan Parliamentary and Policy Research Centre in conjunction with the department of education of the Tibetan exile government is holding a nine – day workshop for Tibetan students of various Indian universities. The workshop aims to educate the Tibetan youth about the future responsibilities and leadership. Around 60 participants are expected at the workshop which will begin on October 1. The participants will tour the various departments of the Tibetan secretariat and non governmental organizations.

The participants will get to interact with Tibetan parliamentarians, ministers and government officials during the rigorous nine days. Various panel discussions will also be held for the students to get a clear understanding of the functioning of the Tibetan democracy.

The workshop is a rare opportunity for the students as it involves the four kalons, chairman and vice chairperson of the Tibetan parliament, Tibetan government officials and representatives of various NGOs. The students will also have the opportunity to learn about the four traditions of the Tibetan Buddhism and their representation in the Tibetan politics from the religious representatives themselves.

The students will discuss the middle way approach and independence with panelists comprising of representatives from the Tibetan Youth Congress, Tibetan Women’s Association and the Tibetan parliament.
