The Tibetan Alliance of Chicago is pleased to announce that we have a professional Tibetan magician in our community in Chicago. The name of the magician is Mr. Tashi Gyatso, from Amdo region of Tibet. Soon after his escape from Tibet, Mr. Tashi had traveled extensively in Nepal and Indian searching for a meaningful life, and, at one time, joined a monastery to become a monk. But his search never ended and looked for new directions and opportunities.
In 1993, he got the break, and moved to Chicago as one of the thousand Tibetan immigrants resettled in the U.S. It was not easy at first and he had to go through a difficult period of family misfortunes and hardship of being in an alien land. But the idea of tricks and the world of magic brought him peace and hope. In fact, it had fascinated him right from his early childhood days. Mr. Tashi Gyatso hungrily dabbled in the magic world and studied the trade from different sources. He even traveled to such countries like England, Italy, Romania, Mexico and Mongolia to gain experiences in the world of magic. Today, he is a professional magician and runs his own company. He calls himself ‘ Tashi the magician from Himalayas’
Mr. Tashi is married to a charming Mexican lady named Mayo Gyatso who happens to be a Realtor. They have two children and live in north side of Chicago. On 27th of March, Mr. Tashi Gyatso gave a free performance to the Tibetan community in Chicago.
