Bhopal, July 26 – Samajwadi Party President and former defence minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today reacted sharply to the alleged infiltration by People’s Liberation Army soldiers into Arunachal Pradesh and said that the situation was ”insulting and shameful” for India.

”In the context of China, our foreign policy has been unsuccessful. That is why, when our seniormost leader visited China, that country sent its soldiers into our territory,” he quipped in a discussion with reporters here. Mr Yadav is in The City of Lakes to participate in a three-day review meeting of his party.

”In this regard, the Government of India must give a clear response to our northern neighbour,” the visiting politician added.

Criticising India’s Tibet stance during Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s China trip, he added, ”That is an example of our country’s weak foreign policy.”
