One dead, another hospitalized in Mundgod after scuffle

DHARAMSHALA, Sept 12: A scuffle between two Tibetan men on Tuesday night in Mundgod Tibetan Settlement, Camp 4, has left one dead and the other hospitalized. The deceased who died on the spot after suffering a stab wound has been identified as Jamyang, aged approximately 30, popularly known as Bhau on social media platforms, while the injured party is an army retired person in his 40s, whose identity is being withheld due to ongoing police investigation.

According to a reliable source who spoke to Phayul on the condition of anonymity, the incident occurred on the night of Tuesday, September 5, around midnight when Jamyang entered the residence of the other man. Upon witnessing the intrusion, he confronted Jamyang, resulting in a physical altercation that escalated into a fatal scuffle. While Jamyang suffered a fatal stab wound, the other man was subsequently rushed to a nearby hospital, where he remains hospitalized and is currently under medical supervision.

Local police has been notified and an investigation into the matter to determine the sequence of events leading up to the fatal confrontation is ongoing.

The Chief Representative Officer of the Doeguling settlement declined to comment on the matter, citing the criminal nature of the case and the need for a comprehensive police inquiry.
