DHARAMSHALA, Dec. 11: The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama on the occasion of Gaden Ngamchoe celebration, a Buddhist religious festival on Thursday once again affirmed to live over 113 years. The Dalai Lama in a recorded video message said, “It is due to the unwavering faith, trust and devotion that millions of Tibetans inside Tibet have vested in me that I sincerely hope and pray to live as long as I could.”

The exiled leader assured his followers inside Tibet and around the world that it seemed certain to him that he will live a long life. “In the past decades, I have been able to significantly contribute to the flourishing of Tibetan culture and Buddhism and it is my wish to live long enough to continue to fulfil the hopes of the six million Tibetans,” he further remarked.

By recalling a video that showcased Lhasa, the Nobel Laureate said that he was once again moved by the devotion showed to him by Tibetans inside Tibet. He further elaborated how Tibetan Buddhism has attracted people from around the world since he was exiled to India. The 85-year-old said, “Therefore, I believe that the divinations have some truth and I think, due to the Tibetan public’s faith in me, it may well prove to be true in the future.”

The spiritual leader had also spoken about his dreams of living a long life in Dec. last year, “Just as I cultivate an altruistic intention, I’ve had dreams about living long. In one dream, I was climbing steps, 13 steps, which I interpreted to relate to the prediction that I could live to the age of 113.” He has reiterated the divinations to the Tibetan public over the past years and repeatedly asked his followers not to worry about his health.

  1. With due respect to RK Prasahar and I want him to understand that His Holiness the great 14th Dalai Lama has never claimed to be an enlightened being till date. It is no use comparing the His Holiness with other noble souls of bygone days, especially the Lord Buddha.
His Holiness is one of the true follower of Lord Gautam Buddha, and he carries the messages of love and compassion wherever he goes in His lifetime. What problem is thereby saying 100, 112 or 113? The world needs him for making our planet more peaceful and happier.

  2. Enlightened beings never falter and fumble. Sometimes 112, sometimes 113 and sometimes over 100 !!! What is this ???

It is sheer out of dreaming. Noble souls like Buddha, Marpa, Boddhidarma don’t
    make such assertions.

    This is my personal opinion.

  3. Tibetans are the luckiest human being on the earth to have the greatest leader, a heavenly appointed ( in our National Anthem ), reincarnation of Avaloketheshrava and Nobel Peace laureate like Malala Yousafzai and has millions and millions of follower around the world. We are extremely grateful for his reassurance to live 113 years to free our ignorance for Independence of Tibet. Tibetan around the world celebrating his Nobel Peace Prize award day in every December like Pakistanese do in July for Malala. Nobel Prize is placing a bell around cat’s neck so that mice can nullify the threat posses them.
