DHARAMSHALA, Nov. 5: Generalising all Muslims for the incident where three French people were murdered last week is wrong, Buddhist leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama said on Thursday. The Tibetan leader’s remark comes at a time when French leaders, including President Emmanuel Macron have described the incident as “Islamist separatism”.

“To generalize that all Muslim people are like that is wrong. This incident that happened days ago in France where a Muslim fundamentalist stabbed some people. It is a temporary and a small incident.

“To blow it out of proportion and say all followers of Islam is like that is wrong. Such kind of thinking is wrong,” the Dalai Lama said while addressing a group of Russian devotees online.

The octogenarian leader said that troublemakers exists in all religious communities, even his own.

The Tibetan leader added that from a more holistic view, Europe is prospering. The 85-year-old said that he admires the model of European Union which since its inception has prevented wars or killings between the member states and advocated that the model should be applied to Africa and Latin-America.

France is under heightened tension after two terror attacks in the space of the last month; the beheading of a history teacher in Paris on October 16, and the stabbing and murder of three people in Nice by a Tunisian national on October 30. President Macron’s characterisation of the attacks as “Islamic separatism” has drawn criticism from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The city of Nice was earlier struck by another terror attack in July 2016 when a gunman drove a large lorry into a crowd celebrating Bastille Day, killing 86 people in an attack claimed by the Islamic State (IS) group.

  1. A french astrologer named Hadès also a tibetan buddhist ( karma Palden Dorjé ) who passed away last year wrote about the french destiny and he said ( astrologie mondiale page 116 edition Hadès 1998 ) all the precedent republics in France ended with a military taken the power..
Napoleon 1 endend the first one
    Napoleon 3 the secund
    Pétain the third
General De Gaulle the fourth republic
we are now in the fifth republic and he continued in this book questionning his studends and readers Is the fith republic will end in the same way as others ??
France is now completly invaded from muslims all over the worlds , the balance with others community is not good at all and people originally born in France or from Europe feels abandonned and betrayed by their own leaders in their own country..This story will finish in deep violence and a military to end the chaos will probably take control of France.. sorry for my bad english .

  2. Here in the west is the Islamist terror- or separaristengroups are those who are fanatic Muslims who are mostly influenced from power mongering people with little or no understanding from the Islam. Normal Islam believers are normal Muslims. So they differentiate between the normal Muslims and the Islamists. His Holiness has not used any of these words. He only said, if one or two Muslims make trouble you cannot say that alle Muslims are bad or trouble maker or terrorists. Normal Muslims are good people.

He did not mention what the French president Mr. Macron said and of course there was no connection to it. He was asked by one of audienz to the recent trouble in Europe. His answer was like all the time the same that there are some mischievous person in every society which does not mean that whole society to which these mischievour persons belong are also the same.

We habe to be very careful to relate the stroies each other. Otherewise there will again be much unhealty discussions.

  3. I too am Buddhist, and appreciate His Holiness’ remarks. While I understand the tendency to blame ALL Muslims, we must remember that just because a member of a religious group commits a horrific act, the individual made a personal decision to commit that act. The act was NOT one decided on by an entire religion. One person made a horrific decision. And then acted on it. My heart goes out to the victims and their families, as well as to those who will face discrimination and threats because they are Muslims.

  4. HH Dalai Lama is absolutely correct. We can’t generalise the relation of Islam and terrorism or Islam and separatism. However, we must understand that it is nearly impossible to identify the potential trouble makers beforehand. Similarly, the reactions of Muslim countries show that many of them see nothing wrong in the violence of fundamentalist individuals. In the circumstances, it is understandable, if the Europeans would keep everybody away for some time.
