DHARAMSHALA, MAR 30: The Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama thanked the  governments of countries for taking necessary measures to fight the COVID-19, while also urging everyone to help the vulnerable and needy people at this difficult time.

In an official message, His Holiness the Dalai Lama appealed everybody to come together in this “exceptionally difficult time due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.” He expressed great admiration and gratitude to all the governments that are trying to contain the outbreak in their respective countries.

The Dalai Lama also applauded the initiative India has taken with other SAARC countries for establishing “an emergency fund and an electronic platform to exchange information, knowledge and expertise to tackle the spread of Covid-19” which could also serve as a future model to deal with crises like this. He also expressed “special gratitude to the medical staff all across the world, doctors, nurses and other support personnel” that are working to fight this pandemic by risking their lives.

The Tibetan leader reminded the public that living beings, including humans, have shown tremendous will and ability to survive such anxious-ridden times. He urged to employ both science and human ingenuity with determination and courage to face the problems that confront the world today.

He urged the people to care for those who are at greater risk during this outbreak, “I understand that as a result of the necessary lockdowns across the world, many people are facing tremendous hardship due to a loss of livelihood. For those with no stable income life is a daily struggle for survival. I earnestly appeal to all concerned to do everything possible to care for the vulnerable members of our communities.”
