DHARAMSHALA, MAR 26: Another Tibetan in exile has been found infected with the novel coronavirus in France, becoming the third Tibetan affected in exile. Speaking to Voice of Tibet (VOT), President of the Tibetan Association in France, Tenzin Penpa has confirmed that a Tibetan has tested positive with the entire family put under quarantine for observation. There are no other details at the moment.
The first death of a Tibetan was reported on Monday of a US returned Tibetan who had contracted the coronavirus and eventually succumbed to his illness in Dharamshala. The second death was reported on Tuesday in London.
The president of the Tibetan Association, France, has urged all the Tibetans to take precautionary measures against this pandemic as the death toll in France continues to rise.
Kangra District Commissioner initiated the curfew under section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure in the district and now it is under nationwide lockdown declared by PM Modi on Sunday night. Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) advised the public to continue practicing “self-distancing” and adhere to the directives sent by the respective state and central governments at a press conference on Monday.
