BTSM holds meeting on Tibet in Ambala

As a part of “2004 as the Year of Tibet” program Bharat- Tibbat Sahyog Manch Haryana State organized a public meeting on Tibet at S.D. School, Ambala Cantt on October 13, 2004.

Congregation of more than 200 people including Tibetans from different parts of the state was addressed by eminent personalities like Shri Indresh Kumar (Patron BTSM & Himalaya Privar), Shri Ratanlal Kataria (Former M.P), Shri Anil Vij – MLA and Dr K.C. Agnihotri (Co-convener Core Group for Tibetan Cause).

While speaking on the historical aspects of Tibet, Shri. Kataria, former Member of Parliament said “Tibet never was a part of China, if anything had existed, it was only a priest and patron relationship”.

Shri Indresh Kumar in his address, he said, “Today, India is spending everyday crores of rupees for the nation’s security and integrity. Had we been able to protect Tibet from the bloody clutches of China, we would not have to incur such a huge loses everyday”. In the context of follow of Chinese goods in Indian market he further said, “Any society that forgets the nation’s interest and get attracted towards others, opens the gate of slavery”.

Dr. Agnihotri said that there was never a common border between India and China, it only came into being after the Chinese occupation of Tibet, which resulted in China’s attack on India in 1962. “It is not only a question of solving the problem of Tibet but also is an issue of nation’s security and integrity” he said.

Mr. Anil Vij, Member of the Haryana State Legislative Assembly said that more and more such programs must be organized and urged the people of India to support the cause of Tibet by joining hand in hand. He said “China can not close her eyes for long because there is no other alternative then solving the issue of Tibet amicably”.

Other speakers who address the gathering were Shri. Ashok Jain, Shri Asim Goel, Col. M.L. Sharma, Shri Jeevan Ram and C. Wangchuk (Coordinator of India Tibet Coordination Office).
