Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) is organizing the Tibetan Youth Leadership Training Program from 2nd January 2004-6th January 2004 at Dickyi Larsoe Tibetan Settlement, Bylakuppe, South India. The Tibetan Youth Leadership Training Program is an attempt to inculcate a sense of nationality among the Tibetan youth studying at various colleges and universities all over India by enticing their attention upon the present critical situation of Tibet and the urgent need of appropriate action. Also, to enhance the political awareness of Tibetan Youth by extensively discussing and sharing their views on the major issues relevant to the Tibetan struggle for freedom and thus training young Tibetans for future leadership.

The Tibetan Youth Leadership Training Program strives to maintain and promote national unity by bringing Tibetan youth from divergent backgrounds and corners of India under one single roof for a week and making them live together, share their experience and understand each other. The organization also makes a humble attempt to educate the younger generation and ascertain them about the intricate functioning of democracy in general and Tibetan democracy in particular so that they can proficiently exercise their democratic responsibilities by not only taking part in decision making but also spearheading much needed changes to redefine Tibetan democracy in exile.

Since its inception in 1970, TYC has been engaging in a wide variety of activities aimed at helping those in need and alleviating some of the most urgent social and educational problems. These range from organizing broom squads to building public toilets, conducting health educational programs to blood donations, holding adult education classes to starting schools and conducting political activities. An equally important task of TYC is to keep alive the freedom struggle among our own people- especially among the younger generation. To a great extent this is done by involving the public and the youth in various activities of TYC. TYC believes that the preservation of Tibetan culture, customs and traditions is the key to preserving Tibetan national identity and hence the continuity of the national struggle.

Of different programs and activities carried out by the Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC), the Tibetan Youth Leadership Training is regular features of Tibetan Youth Congress. TYC has been organizing Leadership Training program for the last many years. Amongst which, the Tibetan Youth Leadership Training Program organized last year in Bangalore was very successful in which students from more than 70 different colleges and universities in India participated. The feedback that we got from the participants was tremendous and majority of the participants felt that such training programs should be organized each year. The Tibetan Youth Congress has been the main vehicle for educating young Tibetans about democratic reforms, preservation and developments of Tibetan culture, tradition, arts and bringing about a unique development for the future Tibet.

TYC, while organizing such massive as well as pursuing and far-reaching event such as the Tibetan Youth Leadership Program regularly, the financial requirement is bound to be very high. TYC, which depends solely on the membership fees and public donations, is facing acute financial constraints and to shoulder such event every year. Therefore, your contribution towards this event on regular basis is highly appreciated.
