Dharamsala, May 28- Football is a religion, they say, in Brazil. For Tibetans, it’s no less. As the two Italian soccer giants AC Milan and Juventus met last night for the final of the UEFA Champion’s League, which was won by the former, Dharamsala gears up for the eight-day soccer tournament named after Gyalyum Chenmo, the late mother of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Eight teams from Gangtok, Kathmandu, Pokhra, Delhi, Mussoorie, Bylakuppee, Dharamsala and Mungod have arrived in the town to take part in the tournament which begins from June 1. The organiser, Tibetan National Football Association based in Dharamsala plans to select players to represent Tibet.

Earlier, Tibetan national football team toured Italy and Denmark.

Young players from these teams will be selected for a camp to be started later in the year.

To cope with the strict financial restraint the organisers plan to charge 10 Rupees per ticket for a league match, 20 Rupees for the final and 50 Rupees for the whole Tournament.

The final will be played on 8 June. TCV football ground will be the venue for the entire tournament.
