Dharamsala May 25 – In a latest development in Dharamsala’s highly prioritised policy of bringing China to table, a delegation comprising of Mr. Lodi Gyari Gyaltsen, His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s Special Envoy, Mr. Kelsang Gyaltsen, Envoy of His Holiness and two assistants have left for China today.

In a Press Statement issued from Tabo, where His Holiness is on a religious tour, by the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Mr. Tenzin Geyche Tethong has said that His Holiness is very pleased with the new development in the Dharamsala Beijing relationship.

This delegation is a follow up to the visit earlier of a delegation last September.

This is the second visit of Dharamsala Delegation since the deadlock between the Exile Tibetan Government headed by His Holiness and Beijing leadership.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama expressed his desire to continue the process of dialogue with Beijing for a “substantive negotiations on the Tibet problem”.

A delegation led by Mr. Lodi G. Gyari made a trip to Beijing and some other areas including Lhasa in what has been termed as a culmination of efforts to rebuild ties with China.

While Dharamsala waits optimistically for any sign of negotiations it is clear that China has responded to the June 2003 deadline set by Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche, the Prime Minister of Tibet-in-exile, for any positive indications of dialogue from China.

Nine months have passed since a new tie between Dharamsala and Beijing was conceived adding a numerical symbolism to the visit. Meanwhile, the Tibetans and Tibetan supporters around the world stay tuned to media with an expectation of a solid foundation between the two sides.
