BHOPAL – The two-day convention of the Core Group for Tibetan Cause Cen- tral Region, comprising the states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattis- garh, UP and Uttaranchal, would be held here from Tuesday. The organisation’s national convenor Dr Nandkishore Trikha and cen- tral region convenor Kulbhushan Bakshi said this while talking to reporters here on Monday. They said that measures to intensify freedom struggle for Tibet would be discussed at the convention.

They said that violation of human rights was rampant in Tibet.

The Chinese rulers were bent upon destroying the cultural, reli- gious and social identity of Tibetan people. The massive militar- isation of Tibet was a threat for the entire region specially India. China has been ruthlessly exploiting the natural resources of Tibet with a colonial attitude posing grave threat to the region’s ecology.

Dr Trikha said that China is diverting the rivers flowing in Tibet. The area is regularly ravaged by serious floods due to large-scale destruction of forests. Many great Indian leaders like Vallabh Bhai Patel, Jaiprakash Narayan, JB Kriplani, Dr Ram Manohar Lohia, Dr Ambedkar realised the threat to the security of the region due to China’s domination of Tibet. He said that while there are positive developments on the overall issue of Tibet, the continuing marginalisation of Tibetans in their own country and Chinese actions on human rights and religious freedom of the Tibetan people is a matter of extreme concern.
