Indian people showed serious concerned on Tibet’s issue

Bharat Jagaran Yatra jointly organised by Tibetan Youth Congress and Bharat-Tibbat Sahyog Manch that was started on 1st March 2003 from the different parts of India is on a massive awareness campaign among the Indian people. Yatra has been drawing lot of attention and getting immense support from the Indian people wherever they pass through. A different kind of phamplets in Hindi, English and Panjabi were largely distributed and pasted in the gathering and places respectively. Yatra that was started from Dharamsala held press conference at Jogindernagar, Mandi, Kullu and Hamirpur, is on their way to Amb, Una and Nangal. Similarly, Yatra from Mussoorie to Delhi was started in the presence of many Indian leaders and Tibetans. As the Yatra reached Dehradun, the capital city of Uttranchal State, a press conference was held. It also organised a press conference in Nainital. It reveals that Yatra is attracting lot of media attention and the news of events has been largely reported in many local and national newspapers.

On 26th Feb 2003 in morning from 6.30 am 7.30 am the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress, Tezu has organized the flagged off ceremony of Bharat Jagaran Yatra in the Tibetan Settlement s Ten-Khang at Tezu and over 2000 Tibetans has attended the function. The flagged off ceremony began with prayers for the success of Yatra followed by Tibetan and Indian National anthems and one minute silence to pay homage to those Tibetans freedom fighters who sacrifice their lives for Tibet s cause.

There after 22 members of RTYC Tezu started marching with Tibetan and Indian National flags towards Chokham and Namsai regions and there they made a public addresses in local languages and also distributed phamplets relating to Tibet s issue and India s security. They also strongly appeal local Indians to support for Tibet s cause and after having gotten about the issue, hundreds of local Indians shown great interest for the Yatra and had extended support through appreciation.

On 27th Feb 2003 from 9.00 am to 4.30 p.m. members of RTYC Tezu started program at Dumduma covering almost whole of region by addressing local Indians by distributing phamlets and had also urged local Indians to support for Tibet s Independence for India s security. Local community has shown great concerned for the procession of Yatra.

On 28th Feb 2003 Regional Tibetan Youth Congress, Maio began the flagged off ceremony of Bharat Jagaran Yatra in Maio Tibetan Settlement from 6.30 am and there after covered over seven places (Kurseong, Jaigoan, Ledo, Lekhapani, Markita, bigbouy and Makum) by the members of RTYC Maio. In the above respective places they made public addresses, distribution of 3500 phamplets to locals on the issue of Bharat Jagaran Yatra and many of the local Indians on those regions has shown great concern to Tibet s issue after having gotten the issue of Yatra.

On the very day, 6 executive members of RTYC Maio and Tezu jointly organized Yatra at Tensukia from 8.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m and there over 1000 local publics were addressed in local languages by the organizers and locals were also distributed phamlets in both local and English languages.

On 1st and 2nd March 2003 RTYC Maio and Tezu started their next program at Dipugarh from 9.00 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. and over 1500 locals were addressed to extend support for Tibet s cause and thousands of phamplets were distributed to the locals.

Many have extended appreciation and support for the Bharat Jagaran Yatra that will be concluded on 10th March 2003 with a huge gathering in three different big cities of India; Delhi, Bangalore and Siliguri.
