, Nov. 7: A high-level meeting in New Delhi was reportedly convened to discuss the recent meeting between the two rival claimants of the Karmapa title ahead of National Security Adviser Ajit Doval’s proposed visit to China.

Doval who is the NSA to Prime Minister Modi convened a meeting of the Tibet study Group to discuss the recent meet between Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje and Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje on October 11, sources said.
The Tibet Study Group comprising of officials from various Indian intelligence agencies such as Intelligence Bureau (IB), Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) and other government bodies such Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is formed specifically to discuss developments around Ogyen Trinley Dorje who escaped from Tibet in 2000.

The Karmapa controversy is played out in the Indian court as the two rival parties supporting the two candidacies have reached an impasse earlier. Exile Tibetans welcomed the meeting in anticipation of solving the differences that has plagued the lineage for decades.
