DHARAMSHALA, December 31: The Speaker of Tibetan Parliament in Exile, Penpa Tsering, on Wednesday launched a book ‘The history of the Gzhung Pa Ma Mtshan tribe of Stod mnga’ ris: Context, personal experience and oral accounts written by a former member of Tibetan parliament, Dakpa Namgyal.

The 76-year-old said that the book is a chronicle of his personal experiences and journey through his life from his home in Ngari to India and the developments he had been a witness to. He also writes in the book about the Tibetan people’s livelihood, society and spiritual relationship with high lamas, who visit Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar from all over Tibet.

“I have written this book keeping in mind the advice of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, who have constantly asked elderly Tibetans to write about their personal experiences for future references. My family also played an important role in writing this book as well,” Dakpa Namgyal said.

Speaker Penpa Tsering expressed his gratitude to the author for his hard work put by the Amye Machen institute for proofreading and checking all the information put forward by the author. “I am sure that it will be a good study reference for the future generation about Ngari and how we came into in exile. I would like to thank the writer Dakpa Namgyal for all the hard work he has put into it.”
