Dalai Lama leaves for Japan, US

Dharamsala, April 28 – His Holiness the Dalai Lama Wednesday left here for the United States where the Tibetan spiritual leader is scheduled to hold a series of public talks, lectures and discussions at various venues in California, Minnesotta, Arizona and New York.

The Tibetan leader will have a brief stopover in Tokyo, Japan, to pray on Friday for the victims of the March 11 Tsunami that rattled the land of the rising sun.

“Friday is the 49th and last day of mourning for the dead according to Buddhist traditions and the Dalai Lama will hold a public prayer in the memory of all the victims of the terrible disaster,” the Tibetan leader’s secretary told reporters.

His Holiness the Dalai Lalma will confer the Solitary Yamantaka Initiation (jigje wang) organized by Gaden Shartse Thubten Dhargye Ling at the Terrace Theater on May 1, 2011. In the afternoon that day, His Holiness will give a public talk on Secular Ethics and Meditation, also organized by Gaden Shartse Thubten Dhargye Ling at the Terrace Theater.

The Tibetan leader will give a public talk on What is True Wisdom? organized by UCLA Center for Buddhist Studies at UCLA Royce Hall in the afternoon of the same day.
