Two Tibetan Albums Nominated for the Just Plain Folks Music Award

San Francisco, July 20, 2009 - Two Tibetan musical albums, "Tibet Fest", a live concert recording, and "Pilgrimage" by Karjam Saeji have been nominated for the Asian Album of the Year.

The veteran Tibetan performing artist Techung (www.techung.com) has received two nominations for award this year: "Techung" (A Cappella) for best A Cappella Album and "Prayer Song" from the TibetFest album for best Asian song. "Danlih" by Karjam Saejiin (http://www.karjamsaeji.com/) is also one of the Asian song Nominees.

The TibetFest album is a live recording featuring the Drepung Gomang monks, Techung, Nawang Khechok, Phurbu T. Namgyal and Penpa Tsering from the 2006 TibetFest annual event organized by Michelle Weik and her friends in Goshen, Connecticut. The festival is an annual gathering of Tibetan artists, speakers, artisans and monks.

Karjam Saeji (full name, Karsangjamtso Saeji) grew up in Yunnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. He lives in the US. His album "Pilgrimage" is produced by Lenedra Carroll, Michele, Steve Heller and Ralf Illenberger..

Just Plain Folks is a community of over 51,500 Songwriters, Recording Artists and Music Industry Professionals — and host to the world's largest independent music awards. The organization was created to provide a network of cooporation and inclusion for musicians.

The 2009 awards show will take place in Nashville, TN, USA on August 29th. 2009.
