Dharamshala, August 8 - At the invitation of Ocean de Sagesse, an association of three Buddhist Centers-based in France, His Holiness the Dalai Lama will pay a historic visit to Nantes in western France, where he will deliver a lecture and series of teachings.

During his stay in Nantes, His Holiness will deliver a public talk on "Peace Through Inner Peace" at the Zenith Nantes Metropole on 15 August.

From 16 - 19 August, His Holiness will give five-day teachings on commentaries from Nagarjuna's "Treatise on the Middle Way, Nagarjuna's Bodhichitta Commentary (Jangchup Semdrel and Summary Teaching on the Causes of Enlightenment of Nagarjuna's Precious Garland".

On the morning of 20 August, His Holiness will confer the "Quintessential Collection of the Inner Siddhis (Thuk-Drup Yang-Nying Kun-Tue)" from the Fifth Dalai Lama's Secret Teachings.

According to the organizers: "The first visit of the Dalai Lama to the West of France will be a great occasion for students and practitioners of Buddhism as well as for everyone receptive to His Holiness' message - an opportunity for people to increase their knowledge of Buddhism and to deepen their spiritual commitment."

The three Buddhists centers - Dashang Vajradhara Ling, Pel Drukpa'i Chotshok and the Centre d'Etudes de Chanteloube - in co-ordination with the Federation du Bouddhisme Tibetain, the Bureau du Tibet and the French authorities at national, regional and local levels, are organising the event.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama left here this morning for a 12-day visit to France, which begins 12 August.
