14 Tibetans Fall in Chinese Trap

Dharamshala November 3 - The Chinese police have arrested 14 Tibetans fleeing Tibet for India via Nepal. The arrest took place at Dagmar area of Dhingri in Shigatse prefecture. The exact date of the arrest is not known. However, it is reported that they were arrested in the beginning of October.

According to a report of Voice of Tibet radio service, 22 Tibetans left Lhasa in two groups of 14 and 8.

The group of 14 people were arrested after 23 days of their departure from Lhasa. All the arrested people were from Amdo province. An eyewitness has told the Voice of Tibet that the eldest among the group was a 37 year old monk. The 22 people were mostly monks and in their twenties.

The 8 Tibetans who managed to escape are under the care of the Tibetan Reception Centre in Nepal.
