As a practicing Buddhist, although not Tibetan, I await with interest and concern to see how Pope Benedict XVI interacts with His Holiness, The Dalai Lama.

Good news - he is not an American. Bad news - he is too old and too CONSERVATIVE.

I do hope that the new pope will be able to show loving-kindness to all people regardless their faith/beliefs. I hope that He will work together with sincere religious leaders of all religions in order to make the woold a better place.
Unfortunately, Cardinal Ratzinger is famous for being extremely conservative, strict and intolerant ...
A lot of faithful and good people suffered sad consequences after participating in the ecumenical church day in Berlin because of Cardinal Ratzinger. Very unfortunate!
You can find lots of information regarding this event on the interner (for example
http://www.novusordowatch.org/churchday.htm)
However, never give up hope!

Compassion, faith, justice, and kindness - these are virtues that both His Holiness the Dalai Lama and our new Holiness Pope Benedict XVI share - may our world be united in love and understanding. May goodness fill our hearts so that we may reach out to all. Remember - you show compassion to others not because of who they are but because of who you are.
