I also had an opportunity to interact with the veteran photo journalist Vijay Kranti during a workshop I attended. He was one of the resource persons.I remember him as a very intelligent and warm person. If I am not wrong, he was the first Indian journalist to interview His Holiness the Dalai Lama on Dhoordharshan way back in late '80s. I remember waiting eagerly for the broadcast of the interview after 8.30 pm tea at Boys Hostel (TCV Upper). Some old guys my age might remember the telecast. We waited with great anticipation and on the appointed time His Holiness and Vijay Kranti appeared there in the frame of the black and white TV that Boys Hostel had then. Oh! it was a joy and an exilerating experiece. The cartoons of His Holiness and Vijay Kranti preceding the actual interview was a surprise and entertaining. It was a surprise because we never saw His Holiness in caricature and at first found it disrespectful. But we could not control our laughter.
I have always admired his consistent interest in and support for our cause. The interview conducted by Angmo of phayul.com is long overdue. Any non-Tibetan supporter of Tibet needs an ocassional moral boost in the form of aknowldgement of their works. I take this interview with him as an indication that Tibetans are aware of the works being done by Vijay Kranti and like and that we appreciate and feel thankful to them. At least this is what I feel.
Thank you Mr. Kranti for your support for us through your professional works. I wish you greater success in your career and long association with the Tibetans.
