I am glad to learn about the Task Force meeting. This shows that our government is serious in wanting negotiations.

But I cannot say I am hopeful about the Chinese government. They seem to be using the contact only as a way to do away with international pressure. We hear of more repression in Tibet. The United Front people in China are travelling all over the world trying to woo Tibetans. We have to be careful.
