It was a September afternoon and I was freezing in the bus as it laboriously chugged up the mountain pass. The bus was old and rickety, the windows wouldn’t close and holes in the floor allowed me to see the road....

A Note to add, its such a misconception that since Tibet is called/known as the "Roof of the World" and for its bitter cold climate that there are not much wildlife. In fact, once again there are rather tremendous amount of diversity in wildlife. Also there are diverse vegetations due to different environment through Tibet.
This is just to clear out this misconception most people have of Tibet.

I am compelled to say that there are wildlife of much diversity in Tibet despite the "harsh environment". I do understand that you weren't able to see them but I am just indicating to you that there are vast array of wildlife in Tibet.
