Hello Sir,

I highly appreciate all your articles you have written so far. But May I ask you, is it possible for you to send a reply to Mr. N. Ram's article that supports Chinese Government's policy in tibet. No articles came up so far that is worth enough to compete him. I am sure you have enough thoughts and command to compete him.
With regards,
Kalsang

Subject: Grunfeld's misinformation
Aug 19 2008 01:15 AM

Tom Grunfeld understands neither Tibetan nor Chinese yet claims to be a scholar in both Tibetan & Chinese history. How effective can an scholar be if he can't read original sources documents in the original language?

Slavery is indeed alive in modern China. Only last year dozens of slaves in a factory were found & released. The existence of the factory w/ slaves was known to the local Communist Party officials & local police who simply looked the other way for a price.

Indentured servitude, torture, mass executions were all known in China so does that give any country the right to invade China? Then how does the alleged (but largely unproven) existence of such things in Tibet's past give China any right to rule Tibet?

Grunfeld admits Tibet prior to 1951 was never an "integral" part of China, something the PRC has been alleging since the 1980s. So does Grunfeld admit the PRC is wrong?

If Tibet was de facto independent, that's all that's required under int'l law. No matter how you look at it, China's invastion of Tibet was illegal & their present day rule is illegitimate.

BTW, at the time of the 1950 PLA invasion, China said nothing about coming to Tibet to free the serfs. They said they were there for territorial reasons & to end Western/KMT imperialism, even though there were only a handful of Westerners in Tibet in 1950 & no KMT officials.

amazing article by jamyang norbu. this article is old but had it not been posted on phayul, i might not have come across it. so thank you, jamyang la. this article is a point by point exposition of grunfeld's ocean of lies and deceit, the loyal dog of communist china and also its literary mercenary. doesn't he have any conscience or ethics or morality? i think that is lost in his brain full of chinese propaganda.
