Subject: McCain showed his true support for HHDL
Jul 29 2008 10:59 PM

While Obama was hobnobbing on his tour of Europe to give himself some credence in foreign policy experience, of which he has very little, Republican candidate McCain took time out of his busy election schedule to meet w/ His Holiness & declare his support for Tibet.

Obama's record on Tibet is unclear. He's only been a US Senator for 4 years.

McCain's record on support of Tibet is several years along. He's well-known to be willing to take a very public stance on Tibet & not afraid to upset China.

During the Clinton years, Clinton only dropped by for visits w/ the Dalai Lama. Bush, Jr. however, very publicly met w/ the Dalai Lama & gave his vocal support. He also signed the bill giving the Congressional Gold Medal of Honor to the Dalai Lama & personally presented it in a public ceremony which was even celebrated inside Tibet.

While no US President's record on Tibet is perfect, the Republicans in recent years have given stronger & more vocal support for Tibetan human rights & self-determination, while Democrats talk a big talk but take little action.
