We want to be free

Foreign journalists escorted by China into the Tibetan capital of Lhasa described a charred, tense city still wrapped in the smell of smoke nearly two weeks after violent riots erupted.
Underlining the tension, a group of monks at the city's Jokhang temple staged a brief protest on Thursday in the presence of the reporters, shouting down a Chinese official who was briefing the journalists on the unrest.
"We want the Dalai Lama to return to Tibet, we want to be free," the monks said, according to one of the journalists there.
