As famous as "Ed" was, we must not forget the role that his loyal partner, Tenzing Norgay played in reaching the summit of Mount Everest, a near impossible task in 1953....

I totally agree with the author.I have been fortunate enough to meet this great guy in Kashmir in the seventies with his daughter...I think.He definately had a very special place for Tibetans in his heart.He was very down to earth and kind spoken man.As I write these lines I am featuring how he came to the front of the house boat to wave good bye to my ma-inlaw and me.

Hey sounds like you're talking about DGH Kalimpong. I was wondering when this event took place? Anayway, good to know Tenzin Norgay is a Tibetan and did what he did.........

Thank you for your kind words. This indeed happened in DGH. Tenzing Norgay was invited to speak during the middle sixties at Jarvi Hall. Mr. Brooks then was the headmaster and Mr. Minto was the principal. Those were the days…

Gyalpo La, was this at Dr Graham's Homes School in Kalimpong? Mr Brooks as headmaster sounds familiar.
