Karmapa peace proposal
Jan 17 2007 06:51 PM
The meeting between Sharmapa and Orgyen are since long time awaited. This meeting has a direct impact on the spirit between the two K. groups. Coming back to the standard measure of normality, to open up and to start to communicate with each other, is leading example for all others, it is the first step to overcome all hostility and rivalry on all levels. I only can hope that all Tibetan Buddhist followers and in particular the Karma Kagyüpa, think about what is it that makes us to Mahayana / Vajrayana Buddhist? If we are ready to stand up and say a clear No to all Non Buddhist ethical activities. No to fanaticism. No to political slogans. And a clear no to all ad hominem* arguments. Then half of the battle was done.
*An ad hominem argument, also known as argumentum ad hominem (Latin: "argument to the person", "argument against the man") is a logical fallacy consisting of replying to an argument by attacking or appealing to the person making the argument, rather than by addressing the substance of the argument.

HH the Gyalwang Karmapa

Hoping that HE Shamar Rinpoche and HE Tai Situ Rinpoche agree to recognize both Karmapas. Since we believe in KU-SUNG and Thuk Trulkus. It is time to unite kagyudpa to preserve and spread the glories of Kagyud Lamas. HH Driking Kyapgon is one of the great Kagyu teacher and there's many more in Kgayud lineages. Bests.

Karmapa road-map
Jan 16 2007 01:35 PM
Bangkok 16 January 2007
The urgency of the meeting between His Holiness Karmapa Lama Ogyen and His Holiness Shamarpa on 9th january 2007and the subsequent appearance of pictures with almost no tangible news prompted Lama Karma Nyuen, a Buddhist resident of Bangkok to follow the Shamarpa after his arrival in the city immediately following the meeting in Delhi. Lama Nyuen was visibly reluctant to dicuss his conversations with the Shamarpa but had to say that " Shamarpa has engineered a road-map for the 2 competing Karmapas to co-exist in harmony and work toward the fulfillment of Buddha's teachings. I cannot wait to see the outcome ". Shamarpa spoke over phone with his office in Kalingpong, India and it was learned that Karmapa Ogyen persuaded the Shamarpa to officially confer upon him the title of Karmapa to fulfill an age-old tradition of lineage holders. Shamarpa viewed that Karmapa Ogyen Lama already had a standing recognition as the Karmapa by His Holiness Tai Situpa through a letter and subsequent endorsement by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the People's Republic of China and therefore reasoned that any further public recognition was uncalled for. Nevertheless, Shamarpa was unwavering in his recognition of His Holiness Tenzin Chentse as the spiritual incarnation of the 16th Karmapa Rigpe Dorje. Buddhists across the continents eagerly pray and await the peaceful resolution of a controversy that has persistently haunted the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism for over a decade.

Kagyu reconciallation
Jan 16 2007 12:32 AM
"The Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism will see a revival to its previous glory from its current controversial issues. The stage is now set" said Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche, head of Ka-Nying Shedrup-Ling monastery(Nepal), while answering pressing queries from his closest disciples in Boudhanath, Nepal. Rinpoche on 9th January 2007, mediated the provocative rendezvous between His Holiness Karmapa Ogyen Lama and His Holiness Shamarpa. " The meeting was long over due and I am delighted to say that the Karma Kagyu will soon be reconciled under the exclusive direction of the Gyalwa Karmapa & Kunzig Shamarpa in accordance with tradition. This is home-coming in the truest sense". Following the meeting, monks in Sikkim took to the streets demanding a lift on a ban that forbids Karmapa Ogyen from visiting Rumtek. However, Karmapa Charitable Trust (KCT), the legal trustees of the 16th Karmapa moved courts at various government levels to challenge the authenticity of Karmapa and the forced expulsion of several monks belonging to the Rumtek monastery. KCT implicity favours His Holiness Karmapa Tenzin Chentse who was recognised by Shamarpa fulfilling an established tradition since the 2nd Karmapa. It has been rumoured that a "Meeting of the Titans" between Karmapa Tenzin Chentse & Karmapa Ogyen is seriously being discussed. Given, the sudden recent meeting between the Karmapa & Shamarpa, this "Meeting of the Titans" could very well be tomorrow.

Karmapa & Shamarpa confess
Jan 15 2007 02:43 PM
It has been confirmed through reliable sources that the meeting between Karmapa Lama Ogyen and Shamarpa was a brief 30 minutes on 9th Jan.2007 in complete isolation at the Oberoi Continental in New Delhi. Lama Choki Nyima Rinpoche son of Late Ugyen Tulku on behalf of Ogyen requested an audience with Shamarpa. The Late Ugyen Tuku was Shamarpa's root lama and had willed his son to bring about peace within the Karma Kagyu. After the meeting pictures were taken and it was gathered that Karmapa Ogyen confessed to Shamarpa the politics of religion and his own plight and confinment in Gyuto monastery. Ogyen seeked direction and advice from Shamarpa. The issue of reincarnation was lightly touched. Shamarpa offered the Karmapa seat in Tsurpu, Tibet to Ogyen but firmly stated that Karmapa Tenzin Chentse will sit on the Karmapa seat at Rumtek, Sikkim.Shamarpa praised Ogyen's dharma activities and offered his support in all future dharma endeavours.

Karmapa & Shamarpa
Jan 10 2007 01:30 PM
His Holiness Shamarpa was earnestly pursued by His Holiness Karmapa Ogyen Thinlay for the last several months to convene a meeting. H.H. Drigung Chapgon drove up to Kalingpong in the summer and secured an audience with His Holiness Karmapa Tenzin Chentse. It was conveyed to His Holiness that Karmapa Ogyen Thinlay expressed his desire to meet Tenzin Chentse and Shamarpa. Shamarpa was approched twice by Drigung Chapgon encouraging a meeting with Ogyen Thinlay. A few weeks ago at the winter ceremony in Bodh Gaya Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche was again approached by Ogyen Thinlay and requested an immediate audience with Shamarpa. Shamarpa finally granted the request and a meeting was convened at the Oberoi Continental in New Delhi on 9th January 2007. Present were Ogyen Thinlay, Thiyak Drupon Rinpoche from Nepal, Tenzing Chodrak from Woodstock, USA, and Ogyen's sister. With Shamarpa was Lungtok Dawa(Chamberlain) and Karma Wangchuk. Discussions at the meeting did not consummate any resolutions regarding the controversy. Both parties took time to exchange niceties and gauge each others intent. There were some interesting moments when Shamarpa and Ogyen Thinlay met. There were issues raised about the pending court case and the Trustees. It is understood that Ogyen Thinlay was encouraged by the Tibetan government to meet with Shamarpa and negotiate the controversy to the extent that Shamarpa withdraws the charges against HH Tai Situpa, HH Gyaltsap Rinpoche, those currantly occupying Rumtek and the Joint Action Committe. In return was offered Ogyen Thinlay's public acceptance of Tenzin Chentse as an incarnate Karmapa but did not specify his own position within the Karma Kagyu Sangha. Shamarpa stood firm on his ground to have all discussions confined within the Kagyu sect; it was explicity expressed that no discussions could be advanced if it involved any entity outside of the Kagyu sect. This could be the first step toward some very interesting developments in the coming months.
