oh my goodness... who cares people... i dont want to come off sounding harsh... it was just a simple post before,,, why can't you just leave it at that, what i simply meant was that make the tibetans in canada who knew her proud, one of which was me, i am a family friend of hers, and i simply meant that she still has well-wishers here in canada even though she is in the u.s... lets leave it at that... peace!!! p.s. and yes she is tibetan first, canadian second, i just wasn't thinking since i didn't think it was a big deal.

She should be a Tibetan Canadian.

The order should be ethnicity first, then nationality.

President Clinton is an Irish American, not an American Irish.

But she cannot be dual citizen since Canada does not recognize dual citizenship.

In US, the Census 2000 form does not list Tibetan as ethnic background.

Of course, you guys could fill in whatever you liked if you happened to be in US during that period when the census was undertaken.

ooooo! Personally I was bit shattered to find that she wasn't really associated with geology, paleontogloy or any other cool stuff. She mastered in Tibetan medicine and Buddism, wrote many related books, which are totally out of my interest and understanding, now how cool is that. I don't know how her experience and education background is of interest to the National Geographic, but ofcourse I am just curious, no offense at all.
The best thing is, she did her PHD from SOAS, yeah, a smart way to conclude her education.
But seriously, she did a good job!! Kudos to miss!

We are not in a competition about which dual Tibetan citizen shines the most, whether it is a Canadian Tib, American Tib, Auss Tib, English Tib, it doesn't matter. It is all about Tibetan, let ur Tibetanness shine and to hell with ur other nationality. Besides itsn't it unethical to have dual nationality in accordance with the Tib govt. in exile's Tsatrim or Chatrim??

This is so cool! It just encouraged me for the time being. It is the start of educated Tibetans being recognized, I might be wrong, but as to what I know, which i know is limited, she is the first Tibetan to get recognition for her studies and get selection for a BIG JOB!!

I love National Geographic and I am very inspired that she got selected for a competitive Program. I also want to make difference like her.

This news is not only sheer jubilation but also sheer inspiration.

Again, a GOOD JOB DONE, miss!
