Subject: Preserve it before discovering its mystery
Nov 06 2005 11:03 AM

It is great that scientists are discovering the geological process that led to the creation of the Tibetan Plateau. To borrow the words of Will Durant, in an age when people are knowing more and more about less and less, this discovery may be important.

What is more important is to preserve the ecosystem of the Tibetan Plateau, not just for the indigenous people living in it and its periphery, but for the millions, if not billions of peoples living in the watersheds of rivers that originate from the Roof of the World.
