Let the TYC also be against Kudrags, cronies, ancestral and family systems that plague our society. Also go against the few nepotistic families which have been ruling and looting the TGIE.

Then it will be something! Otherwise it is just trying to target one evil while letting the more harmful one exist.

Subject: A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION FOR THE GOOD OF TIBET
Sep 08 2005 04:37 AM

I think this is a great initiative from the TYC. I know they campaigned for this in the mid-seventies but did not succeed precisely by people like the one from Paris who calls himself/herself "Realist Utsangwa". There is a pressure group who constantly use this weapon as a means of blocking new changes. In India, there are those like the Shiv Sena or Bajrang Dal who always cry foul when ever the minority Muslims get some "political mileage" by using words like "pandering to the minorities". This person from Paris is the same kind of person who does not think about the greater good of Tibet but only sees that it is another way of the Utsang Syndicate getting the dominant position among the three regions. This has been played by Tibetan politicians of his ilk and the gullible and unwitting public bought their disingeneous ways. They use such tactics to bring fear among their people and fear blinds reason and so the general public becomes a very easy prey to such manupulative politics by the likes of this guy from Paris. The question we have in hand is do we really want a democracy that is on par with the democracy practised across the western nations and India or is it going to be a kind of democracy which attaches greater emphesis on regional rights than individual rights. In an authoritarian state like China, the state is the most important and individual rights are insignificant. But in a real democracy, the invidual's right becomes supreme. This therefore means, whether you are from Utsang, Kham or Amdo is irrelevant. The very fact that you are Tibetan means you enjoy the rights that is enshrined in the Tibetan constitution irrespective of from you hail from. Otherwise, if we are to go by the way we are going now, how can India ever go to elect it's parliement members? I mean there are Sikhs, Hindus, Jains, Buddhists, Muslims, Biharis, Nepalis, Nagas, Mizos, Monpas, Lowas and it is end less. The very fact that the chitues are elected by the people from three provincs is sufficient to demonstrate that we have the representatives of all three cholkas. In all democracies, while it is true that they have their own constituencies, they are ELECTED BY ALL THE GROUPS (both religious and enthicity) OF PEOPLE FROM THAT CONSTITUENT AND HENCE THE ELECTED MEMBER AUTOMATICALLY REPRESENTS ALL THE MEMBERS OF THESE GROUPS IN PARLIEMENT.
The present system pits each cholka against the other and causes so much bad blood among ourselves. We have to have a system that is not based on cholkas but rather constituencies. One good example is the European chitue. All Tibetans from the three pronvinces are represented by this chitue and nobody seems to be complianing. So why can't we do it with the rest of the Tibetan dispora? If we do this, we will have some very smart guys on the electrol list which is good for Tibet. At the moment, regional interest supersedes national interest and that is where it is gone wrong and we are getting nowhere. NATIONAL INTEREST IS PARAMOUNT. ALL THOSE WHO ARE ELCTED MUST FEEL A SENSE OF REPONSIBILITY FOR THE PEOPLE OF TIBET. The folly of this present system was clearly exposed in a dirty duel in the parliement between some chitues. Chitue Sonam Topgyal, clearly spilled the beans, when he said something to the effect "except for my responsibility towards the Dotoed people, I couldn't careless". THIS IS THE PRESENT MENTALITY OF THE CHITUES WHO ARE TRUMPPETED AS "BHOD MIMANG CHITUE" BUT IN THEIR HEARTS THEY FEEL SOMETHING ELSE. THIS IS DREADFULLY WRONG AND MUST BE CORRECTED.IF WE DO NOT MAKE A CHANGE, THIS SMALL- MINDEDNESS WILL GET US NO WHERE.

TIBETAN YOUTH MEMBERS NOMINATES WITH BIG LOOPHOLES:
1. OUT OF 30 NAMES, 20 ARE FROM DHARAMSALA. IS THAT SOME SORT OF LOCAL MAFIA POLITICS?
2. MORE THAN ONE THIRD OF TIBETAN POPULATION LIVE IN BYLAKUPPE AND MUNDGOD TIBETAN SETTLEMENTS. BUT THE TIBETAN YOUTH MEMBERS DID FIND EVEN A SINGLE NONIMATION FROM THESE TWO PLACES. VERY STRANGE IN DEED!!
3. LHASANG TSERING AND KARMA CHOEPHEL ARE TWO BROTHERS, WHY ARE THEY BEING NOMINATED FROM FROM TWO DIFFERENT REGIONS? VERY FISHY!!

One thing I never tried is to find out something about these nominees...I am sure the true stories of some of these nominees must be very disgusting and dissapointing. I will leave for others to find out....

Educated tibetans should and must have their own candidates... Please don't get fooled....

Glad to know that some of our younger folks have realized that sectarianism and regionalism have hurt us and slowed us down and are making efforts to break out of this mold. Nevertheless, we must agree that sectarianism and regionalism has served us and given us a starting point. And like many who expressed their opinion on this site it is time for change and the ultimate goal is One United Tibet for All Tibetans.

Subject: TYC looses moral high ground
Sep 08 2005 12:54 AM

TYC should not have put up these list. TYC should remain above partisan politics. I don't see any member of TYC's nominee will serve better than others. TYC lost its moral high ground. For a long time, TYC is going down the hill. This action of TYC will hastened the whole strength of TYC. This is not the TYC I know of. I am sad to TYC going down. I am one among thousands of TYC members who have worked hard for its glory. Today, politically immature leadership of TYC has bought the poverbially last nail.

The time has come now, after 46 years of wrong path,to unite under one motto: "One for All and All for One Tibetan".We do not want anymore anti- or pro: (Utsang,Toepa,Amdo,Khampa,Gelugpa,Nyinmapa,Kagyupa,Sakyapa,Boenpa, rich, poor, shugdenpa, nyinjorpa, sajorpa and etc).
These unity destroying elements for the 46 years made Tibetan society so horrible that we feel shame to say we are true buddhists and tibetans.
The "green Lepawas" should pull up their own socks and catch up the rest of international modern society.
We are all one Tibetan with true buddhist principle both in theory and practice.
Our society has not changed for better both in buddhistic practise or in any social fields. We are real lacking behind the developed countries, like Japan,Korea,Singapore,Hongkong,Taiwan.

We are world champions in spreading remours, gossiping, feeling jealousy, hoping something from heaven, finding sponsers, getting free social services, digging past histories of misfortunes or bad acts of own disliked countryman, pretending to be good buddhists, etc etc.
Now is time to rise above your shoulders and forget all the simple and short-cuts.
We have already lost a half century in alien countries doing nothing and achieving nothing.
Wake up and work hard for Tibet and for yourself for better human beings,as said in Shantideva`s text.Be fair to yourself and countryman, struggle to achieve own goal and for Tibet with patience, effort and bravery.
There are no excuses left anymore for Tibetans by not doing any productive and successive works.

Dear youngster,
Our parliamentary system is not a 'regional politics'. I indeed found many youngster thinking in the same manner. Right now, Tibet is considered only Utsang side in the world. But our country is not limited to so much. We have Kham and Amdo. To keep them alive and intact with the present notion of Tibet, we are bound to stand with this system of politics. Having all the three region under the name of Tibet makes a big Tibet. Now do you want to sacrifice our BIg Tibet for western method of Election? Please think broadly and deeply before you bark to much. There is much more things to learn than you have learned. That is all.
