In his recent statement HH has said around ten thousand Tibs will be resettled in the US within next two years. So I hope every tibs in Nepal can come. Good luck and hope to see you soon. I want to remind you one thing, Do not ever forget the grace of HH and tgie when you all get here like most of us do.I hate those kind of people specially from the CHIKTONGWA. Advice to the tibs in NEPAL:- Do not hesitate to complain to the concern authority if you see any non Tib taking advantage of this program. We need to learn to hate and fight for corruption. WHAT A GREAT NEWS!!!
I'M SO HAPPY FOR THE TIBS LIVING IN NEPAL. THERE SHOULDN'T BE A SELECTION THIS TIME. EVERY TIBETAN LIVING IN NEPAL (AND EVENTUALLY THOSE LIVING IN INDIA) SHOULD BE GIVEN A CHANCE TO RELOCATE IN A THIRD COUNTRY WHERE THEY CAN ENJOY MORE POLITICAL FREEDOM ETC. CHINA THESE DAYS FIND IT QUITE EASY TO TWIST THE ARMS OF NEPAL AND INDIA. TIBETANS WILL NO LONGER BE VERY SAFE HERE.

its a very good step to be taken by Mr.Bush.because refugee tibetans are living under sub human conditions in some part of nepal.they live and die every single day ....people like them should be given a chance to prove the existence of god,so may be at the moment the U.S. can play god and let them know that they care.Once again kudos to the U.S.govt.

Nepal Continues Restrictions on Tibetan Activities
Phayul[Sunday, September 04, 2005 11:34]
By TS

Kathmandu - Tibetan refugees in the Nepali capital Kathmandu celebrates their 45th democracy day under Nepali authorities restriction. On September 2nd, hundreds of Tibetans including school children gathered at a monastery near the great Buddhist stupa, Boudhanath, with the hope of celebrating the 45th democracy day on the monastery's ground as usual (since the last couple of years) but the Nepali police prohibited them to take the Dalai lama's photo to the gathering place from the monastery. So they(Tibetans) have no alternative other than to do it in the monastery's puja hall. They did some religious rituals and read out the statements by the Kashag(i.e, the cabinet of the exile govt. at Dharamsala, India) and the also the statements of the Tibetan parliament on the occasion of th the 45th democracy day. Beside, speaking to the gathering Mr. Wangchuk Tsering said, "Years ago we used to hold such programs at the boudha stupa itself, and also at some other venues. We have sought permission this time too and it was granted, but at the last minute they disallowed us, particulary His Holiness's photo. It is not that the Nepali government and the Nepali people dislikes the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan people, but it is because of pressure from outside."

Through out the program there was the presence of dozen Nepali police.

Nepal hosts over twenty thousand Tibetan refugees. Since 2000, Nepal has tightened its restrictions on Tibetan religious and political activities in Nepal. Analysts say there is immense pressure from China on Nepal over the issue. In Febuary this year Nepal closed the Dalai Lama's representative office in Kathmandu.

why isn't other western countries doing the same, for e.g. Canada, Switzerland, Australia,

I think tibetans in those countries should out of their comfy sofas, close the TV and start to petition their gov't to take in some tibetans, don't be afraid to stand up for our brothers and sisters, you are in the land of free and your actions are required, not your inactions

get up and do something!

thanks alot to His holiness the Dalai lama and the government of United states.I m very happy to know that there would be an oppurtunity for those genuinely poor Tibetans in n outside nepal to reconstruct their life with the grace of HH the Dalai lama and with the great help from the government of USA.My request is please be honest n make sure how many genuinely poor TIbetans there r and who they r,where they live n how they live.I don't want to repeat how unfair and unjustice there were during the thousand batch program over decade ago. Many real poor Tibetans are still there in n outside Nepal struggling poverty. Who will help them finally when the certain opportunities actually given to them r always being deprived of them. I earnestly request to anyone who really n actually is responsible for these sort of program.
