Dharmsala to remember TIANANMEN
-[Saturday, June 04, 2005 00:32]
16 years ago, on this day China ruthlessly massacred her own children who were asking for Freedom and Democracy. Tiananmen Square Massacre remains the biggest blot on Humanity - evidence of suppression of human struggle for freedom. The Tibetan people stand with the Chinese youth today looking for a Free and Democratic China.

We understand the Chinese people’s craving for Freedom and Democracy as we are ourselves a colony to the imperialist and corrupt communist regime. As we offer our solidarity with the common people of China, we ask them to understand the Tibetan people’s suffering under China and our yearning for a Free Tibet. So long as this corrupt communist regime lives on, more than one quarter of humanity will be forever in pain and suffering.

Students for a Free Tibet (INDIA), Regional Tibetan Youth Congress Dharamsala, and Friends of Tibet (INDIA) commemorate the 16th anniversary of TIANANMEN Square Massacre, where at the alter of Democracy thousands of Chinese laid their lives.

An information stall will be put in the market in McLeod Ganj on the morning of June 4 2005 and the activists will distribute information leaflets through out the day. In the evening there will be a Public Meeting where heads of various where we will present a skid based on Power and Resistance, there will be people of different nationality dedicating their songs for freedom fighters and poetry read.

Candles will be lit in memory of youth sacrifice for freedom and democracy.

A film screening will follow. The film "TIANANMEN: the Gate of Heavenly Peace" in detail documents the democracy movement which lasted for four months through the spring of 1989 in China.
