ITCO[Thursday, December 30, 2004 22:55]
December 25 - Indo Tibet Friendship Society along with India Tibet Coordination Office (ITCO) organized a three days' National Convention of Indo Tibet Friendship Society (ITFS) at Charan Sabha Bhavan in Jodhpur.

Around 400 participants including members of ITFS from various Indian states (UP, MP, Gujarat, Assam, Maharashtra, Orissa) and executive members of Tibetan Women's Association, Tibetan Youth Congress and dozens of Tibetan Sweater Sellers took part in the meeting.

Prof. Samdong Rinpoche, while inaugurating the meeting said that the Indian Government is still hesitant in giving open support to Tibetan cause. He said, "The next five years are most crucial for this movement and a strong public opinion can build confidence in political leaders here. India can play the role of a mediator in talks between H.H. the Dalai Lama and the Chinese Govt. to resolve the issue of Tibet". "Coming year is more important as a delegation is going to hold talks with Chinese Govt. on several issue", he further added.

Convention convener Mr. Amar Kishan Vyas while delivering his welcome address said, that China trespassed into Tibet and took over the land that belonged to Tibetans. "There should be discussions with China with regard to providing full autonomy to Tibet", he said.
