Korean Walk for Tibet Ends
Phayul[Thursday, December 30, 2004 21:41]
A group of Korean supporters began a peace march on the 1Oth December coinciding with the world's human rights day and conferment of Nobel Peace Prize to His Holiness the Dalai Lama. After almost twenty days of gruelling walk the marchers reached their destination on 28 December.

The freezing winter cold could not deter the spirit of marchers who walked on the deadly highways to support the Tibetan cause. They reached Seoul, the capital city of South Korea few days ago and more people joined with them.
They walked till the border of South and North Korea and paid their respect to the national flags of Tibet and Korea.

Passing through many major cities in their 600 kilometre walk the marchers gathered at their destination with a renewed spirit and desire to work for Tibet. Jamyang, a Tibetan, says, " I am not just happy that we reached our destination of this walk for Tibet, I am happy that we can keep on working for Tibet's cause and for the world peace. I am thankful to the people of Korea for their support to Tibet. "

His wife sustained injuries on her feet but she walked neck to neck with the other marchers wearing a genuine smile on her face. She was explaining Tibet's situation to the Koreans they met on their march. She said the pain in her feet is nothing when compared to those Tibetans who escape from Tibet over Himalayas, especially young children.
