Hunger strike of RTYC Chandigarh enters day seven
RTYC, Chandigarh[Sunday, November 21, 2004 02:27]
The Hunger Strikers of the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress (RTYC) led by president Tenzin Norsang entered into its seventh day. The students demand the release of all political prisoners including Panchen Lama and Tulku Tenzin Delek whose suspended death sentence expires on 2nd December, 2004.

On 20th Nov., RTYC Chandigarh burned the Chinese national flag and effigy of Chinese President Hu Jintao. To boost our confidence and to support us, Tibetan people from Zirakpur devoted their time and joined our hunger strike for three days. Foreign students with their President Mr. Richard supported us in thought and action.

On 21st Nov, 2004, we are going to send our petition signed with blood to U.N.O., General Secretary. Around 1,500 signatures from our Tibetan students, our Indian friends and supporters, foreign students from various college and universities have been collected.

Hunger strike ends at 20th November 2004 BUT Our spirit and Will power, hope, faith and struggle to release Tulku Tenzin Delek would not die easily and our effort will be alive forever to seek justice and release all our brethrens. We believe in our leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama and ourselves.

Yesterday also they (hunger strikers) were taken forcefully by the police for medical examination, and reports reveal that four students are very serious and were suggested to discontinue the strike but the reluctant strikers did not listen to doctors and sat on the strike.

5TH AND 6TH DAY OF WEEK HUNGER STRIKE

We thank for all Indian and foreigners to supporting for our cause and to make it as a grand success. Regional Tibetan Youth Congress (RTYC) today took out a candle light procession at Sector 17 plaza. Foreign Students supported the candle light procession. Tibetan along with foreign students and NGOs staged a Candle Light Vigil this evening at the Plaza 17(on 18th Nov.) as a sign of silent protest. Tibetans appealed the Indian public through the press and media for support.

The Candle night vigil was to pay respect and tribute to all those brave Tibetan people who consistently struggle for freedom often at the cost of their own lives. As the candles symbolizes the undying hope, courage and steadfast commitment of the Tibetan for their struggle for freedom, we light these candle to illuminate our love for Tibet, Freedom from oppression.

Before we hold a candle night march, all our weak hunger strikers had been forcefully taken by the police. After Medical check up and others, Five students namely Tenzin Norsang, Kelsang Tsering, Tsering Choezom, Yangchen Lhamo and Tsering Ngudup were reported to be serious due to the hunger strike. They were taken to Sector 16 general Hospital by the Police for Check-up.

On 19th Nov. 2004, the strikers sat saying prayers and listening to speeches of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
