Dalai Lama inaugurates Tibetan institute
Hindustan Times[Saturday, November 20, 2004 19:30]
Joginder Nagar, November 19 - THE DZONGSAR Chokyi Lodro College of Dialectics, a distinguished institution for Tibetan-Budhist higher education, was inaugurated today at Tibetan colony of Chauntra, about 10 km from here.

The Dalai Lama and Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh were present on the occasion, besides Tibetan population, foreigners and locals and other dignitaries in considerable number. The ceremony began with the lighting of butter lamps in front of the 28 feet statue of Budha. The college has eleven classrooms, a library, computer and reading rooms, Tara and Guru halls and enough space to house up to 1,000 monks. The dining hall is big enough to accommodate 2,000 people in a single sitting.

The Dalai Lama will give teachings on Atisha’s “lamp to the path of enlightenment (Bodhipathapradipam)” on Saturday to the public.
