DHARAMSHALA, Aug. 2: A delegation of six US Congressmen led by the House Democracy Partnership (HDP) Chairman Rep. David Price arrived this afternoon in Dharamshala, the Tibetan exile capital in Northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh for two-day official visit.

Co-Chair of HDP, Rep. Vern Buchanan and other members of US House of Representatives, Rep. Susan Davis, Rep. Gerry Connolly, Rep. Neal Dunn and Rep. John Rutherford are part of the delegation accompanied by staffers, military escorts and embassy staff totalling 30 members.

The bipartisan delegation is set to visit the Kashag (Cabinet) Secretariat and the offices of CTA and hold a brief meeting with the CTA President Lobsang Sangay and his cabinet members on Saturday.

The group has meeting scheduled with His Holiness the Dalai Lama at his residence afterwards, followed by a tour around the Tsuglakhang (main temple).

It will also meet the Speaker, the Deputy Speaker and the members of the Standing Committee of Tibetan Parliament in Exile (TPIE) in the afternoon and address a gathering of CTA staff after that.

Rep. Neal Dunn told reporters that American people have a soft spot for the Tibetans and the delegation is here to review how it can best help the government in exile and its work.

The members of Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) will host a cultural show for the group Saturday evening.

This is the second high-level visit of US Congressional delegation to Dharamshala, following the delegation in 2017 led by the then former U.S. House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi.
