DHARAMSHALA, Apr. 22: Tibetan leader and foremost Buddhist figure, His Holiness the Dalai Lama today shifted to the Tibetan Youth Hostel in North-West Delhi’s Rohini, where he has a residential apartment within the compound. Sources say that the Tibetan leader who has completed treatment will recuperate in the Indian capital for some time.
Around 9 am this morning, the Tibetan leader departed the Sheraton Hotel in Saket and reached the Tibetan Youth Hostel forty minutes later, escorted by Delhi police along with the Z+ security detail that the government of India has assigned for him. The Dalai Lama assured students of the hostel and Tibetans who had come to welcome him of good health.
“Look at my face, do you find anything wrong? I am totally fine now. You do not need to worry” the Tibetan leader said while being greeted by a few hundred Tibetans at the compound.
Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Delhi’s Chief and former Security Minister of exile Tibetan government Dongchung Ngodup told the media that the Tibetan leader has been given a green flag with regards to his health by doctors at the Max Super Specialty Hospital earlier this morning. “His Holiness will be recuperating here for a few days and will return back to Dharamshala after few days,” Ngodup said.
The 83-year-old was admitted in the Delhi Hospital on April 9, after he experienced discomfort and developed fever. He was flown to Delhi from Dharamshala. The prognosis at the time was that he was suffering from flu like symptoms and chest infection. His aide later told media personnel that the Tibetan leader had a minor infection in his lung.
He was discharged from the hospital on April 12 after a four-day stay at the hospital. During his stay, Tibetans and well wishers poured in prayers and wishes for the ailing global icon for his speedy recovery.
He is scheduled to give teachings to his Russian devotees in Dharamshala from May 10-12, his private office announced earlier.
