DHARAMSHALA, Apr. 15: The Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s recovery is progressing very positively and has attained normal health, after he underwent a follow up check up earlier this morning, his personal physician said.

The 83 year-old visited the Max Super Specialty Hospital for a follow up check up from the Sheraton hotel where he had been staying since Friday following his discharge from the hospital. The personal physician of the Dalai Lama, Dr. Sadhutsang Tsetan Dorjee said, “His Holiness’s recovery has progressed very well. His overall well being this morning has visibly improved and the follow up check up has also confirmed that he is recovering very well. He will still have to take medicines for a few days but he is recovered very well.”

He was admitted in the Delhi Hospital on April 12, after he experienced discomfort and developed fever. The prognosis at the time was that he was suffering from flu like symptoms and chest infection. His spokesperson later told media personnel that the Tibetan leader had a minor infection in his lung.

Dongchung Ngodup, Representative of Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in New Delhi said the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Jagat Prakash Nadda visited the Dalai Lama at his hotel room to enquire his health condition on Sunday. Nadda is said to have assured government of India’s help and support to the Tibetan leader.

The health of the octogenarian Tibetan and Buddhist leader has drawn world wide concern and wishes for a speedy recovery. In Canada, member of Ontario State Parliament, Bhutila Karpoche, gave a statement on April 12 in the State Parliament about the health of His Holiness of the Dalai Lama and wished the Tibetan leader a speedy recovery.

Chilkur Balaji, a Hindu temple in Hyderabad, India, held a puja for the recovery of the Tibetan leader. Chief priests’ Dr M V Soundararajan and C S Gopalakrishna urged Tibetans not to worry and exercise calm.

According to sources, the Tibetan leader will return back to Dharamshala by the middle of this week. He is scheduled to give teachings to his Russian devotees in Dharamshala from May 10-12, his private office announced earlier.
