DHARAMSHALA, Apr. 12: Exile Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama who was discharged from hospital today after his brief stay, thanked well-wishers including Tibetans after recovering from “minor chest infection”.

The 83 year-old Tibetan leader was discharged from the Max Super Specialty Hospital in Delhi on Friday after three-day stay during which he received treatment.

“I want to say thank you to all the Tibetans, both in exile and inside Tibet, as well as those around the world who prayed and wished for my recovery. I am sure that all your sincere prayers for my health and long life have helped me in my recovery,” the Dalai Lama told the media before leaving the hospital.

The Tibetan leader assured that he was fine and that his ailment was nothing out of the ordinary. The Tibetan leader also said that after undergoing thorough examination, it was found that there was a minor infection in his lungs which was developed when he contracted a flu during his last visit to Bodh Gaya.

He was admitted in the Delhi hospital on Tuesday, a day after he returned from a visit to the Indian capital where he inaugurated the SEE Learning (Social, Emotional and Ethical Learning) curriculum.

The octogenarian Tibetan leader will be staying at the Sheraton Hotel in the Indian capital for a few days to recover further and gain fitness.

Tibetan circuits in the social media and micro messaging platforms were flooded with messages and prayers for the recovery of the ageing Tibetan leader. Well wishers and devotees from around the world also chimed in with similar messages.

Many Tibetans have called for their leader to take more rest and curtail his public engagement. The Dalai Lama earlier expressed that long flights and hectic public engagement takes a toll on his overall well being. He asked his followers earlier, “Would you have me live a hectic and a short life or a long and relaxed life?”
