DHARAMSHALA, Apr. 9: Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama who returned to Dharamshala on Monday after a five-day schedule in the Indian capital has flown back to New Delhi in the early hours of Tuesday.

He suffered from “minor chest infection” after contracting cold and fever, his personal physician said. The Dalai Lama left his residence here in McLeod Ganj around 7 am and flew to Delhi from the Gaggal Airport near Dharamshala.

Phayul has learned that the octogenarian Tibetan leader is admitted at the Max Super Specialty hospital in Saket, South Delhi. His personal physician Dr. Sadhutsang Tsetan Dorjee told VOT that the Tibetan leader has a minor infection in the lungs after he contracted cold and fever.

“There is no need to worry as there is no major concerns for Kundun’s health. He has a minor chest infection and a little fever from what seems to be a case of common cold. He will be recuperating here (Max hospital) for a few days and will be kept under observation,” Dr. Tsetan said.

The 83-year-old recently concluded a successful inauguration of the SEE Learning (Social, Emotional and Ethical Learning) curriculum in the Indian capital which saw him oversee three consecutive days of public engagement.

The Dalai Lama’s official website does not show any major engagements for the Tibetan leader this month. From May 10-12, he is scheduled to give teachings here in Dharamshala for his devotees in Russia.
