DHARAMSHALA, March 15: The Central Tibetan’s Administration (CTA) announced the third Special General Meeting of the Tibetans from October 3 to 5 at Dharamshala to garner public opinion on the 5-50 vision following the three forums held on the subject so far and to discuss the relationship between the lineage of Dalai Lamas an¬¬d Tibetan people.

¬The press conference held this afternoon at the Clubhouse, Mcleod Ganj, was presided over by the CTA President Dr. Lobsang Sangay, the Speaker of the Parliament Pema Jugney and the Additional Secretary of DIIR, Mr Tsewang Gyalpo Arya. The decision was reached by the Kashag and the executive committee of the Tibetan parliament in exile as per the provision of the Article 59 of the charter of Tibetan government-in-exile.

The first 5-50 vision related forum was held on political matters attended by political leaders and experts from around the world. The second was a youth forum and the third forum on resilience. Sikyong said that the third special general meeting of Tibetans is being organized as it will be the Tibetan public who will implement the strategies of the vision.

“All the recommendations from the three forums were transcribed and would be made available to the general public fairly soon,” said Sikyong.

“Since Tibet is the land of Chenrezig or Buddha of Compassion and we always say Chenrezig and Tibet are inseparable, we owe our gratitude to the manifestation of Chenrezig who is the Dalai Lama,” said Sangay.

He also said through this meeting, we want to find means to express our gratitude to His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

300-400 participants are expected to attend the meeting including all the settlements officers, representatives of local Tibetan Freedom Movement offices, representatives of Offices of Tibet and Local Assemblies.

Meetings are going be held regionally and recommendations are expected to be brought in writing by the representatives to Dharamshala.

When asked if the ordinary Tibetan public is well versed with the 5-50 vision to articulate their opinion at the regional level, Sikyong said except for the first forum, the other two were broadcast live, widely viewed.
