In his address to the gathering, the ITFA President said, “We pray that their souls find peace and that their family will find strength in this tough time. We also pray that the teaching of His Holiness the Dalai Lama will bring peace and strength to India and the world so a tragedy like this doesn’t happen again.”

At the prayer service, a one-minute silence was observed to mourn the tragedy followed by a candlelight vigil at 6:00 pm from Mcleod Ganj Square to the Dalai Lama temple and back.

The vigil saw people joining in droves to pay their tribute.

Speaking to the Tibetan media, Rinchen said since we have been living in India as refugees for the last 60 years, these Jawans have been protecting us too and it is our moral duty to stand in solidarity with our host country in times like this.
