DHARAMSHALA, Jan. 8: The members of Upper Dharamshala Hotel and Restaurant Association will have to wait a few more months to determine what compounding fees and penalties will be levied on defaulters in the mass hotel closure case from 2017.

The hearing today at the Himachal Pradesh high court saw the state government appealing for a one-week time for the submission of the proposal saying it is in the final stage. Keshav Sheridhar is representing the association.

The court now fixed the date of March 27 for the next hearing.

About 200 establishments in the core area comprising of the area from Kamru mor to TIPA were affected and the town has reported a decrease in tourist footfall.

Complaints were filed about several businesses re-operating already in the core area. However, the court said it is not interested in new complaints at the moment as it wants to dispose of this case first.

The members of the association are expecting it to take few more months after that to be able to officially reopen the closed businesses as the Dharamshala Municipal Corporation will take over to inspect and regularize each establishment.

Rahul Kapoor, owner of Krishna Hotel on Temple Road, said he is hopeful that everything will be sorted out by June.
