DHARAMSHALA: A former bureaucrat in the CTA, Arya Pema Dadul, has been named the new Auditor General of the Central Tibetan Administration after voting among the standing committee members of the Tibetan parliament in exile.
Speaker of the 16th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Khenpo Sonam Tenphel announced the election of the new Auditor General during the 161st meeting of the Standing Committee on Tuesday.
“Upon the term completion of the previous Auditor General Gonpo Phuntsok on 31 March, as per the sub-clause 1 (a) (b) of Clause (107) Article (X) enshrined in the Charter of Exiled Tibetan, a ‘Selection Committee’ comprising of former Chief Election Commissioner Tekhang Namgyal Dorjee, Deckyi Khangsar Jampel Choesang and former Auditor General Gonpo Phunstok presented the proposal for two nominees: former Secretary Pema Dadul Arya and Lhakpa Gyaltsen,” said a press release by the Secretariat of the Tibetan Parliament in exile.
The 11 member-board of the Standing Committee of the Tibetan parliament participated in the voting where former Secretary Arya Pema Dadul was elected as the new Auditor General of the Office of the Auditor General securing two third’s majority.
Arya Pema Dadul served as Senior Clerk and Joint-Secretary in the Office of Auditor General from 5 March 1982 to 1997. From July 1997 to May 2001, he served as the Director of the Tibetan Medical and Astrological Institute.
He later served as the Secretary of the Office of Auditor General from May 2001 to May 2002. Mr Dadul also served two years as Secretary of Tibetan Homes School, Mussoorie, from May 2002 to 2004. From May 2004 to 2005, he served as the Secretary of Chief Justice Commission. He served as the Secretary of Department of Health, CTA for a year from July 2007 to March 2008. Mr Dadul retired on 20 March 2008 and currently resides in Toronto, Canada.
