DHARAMSHALA, Feb. 26: Tibetan singer and songwriter Sonam Topden will feature in a new Indian Music reality show to be streamed by Amazon. The popular singer announced that he will be participating in music reality show “The Remix” which will be featured on online streaming platform Amazon Prime Video early next month.
“I proudly announce my first international reality show @remixamazon pairing with my partner @djrinkindia by @amazonprimein thank you for all your support,” Topden wrote on his official Facebook account. The show will be streamed from March 9 onwards.
In the new show, singers will be paired with DJs as teams and will pit against each other while creating “a fresh spin culminating in a musical extravaganza,” the makers of the show Greymatter Entertainment said.
Topden will pair with DJ Rink and compete against 9 other teams over the course of 10 episodes wherein a team will be eliminated per episode. The winner of the show will get cash prize of 50 lakh INR as well as professional endorsement by Indian music bigwigs such as Sunidhi Chauhan, Amit Trivedi, and DJ Nucleya who are judging the contest.
The contestants will explore different themes like ambient sounds, retro remixes, live instrumentation, sounds of India, global beats mixed with unique acts, choreography, and cutting-edge visual design, creating a never-seen-before musical extravaganza, the makers announced.
Topden, dubbed by some as Tibet’s Justin Beiber, came into public space on 2016 with his first single ‘Palkyi La’ and went on to produce hits like ‘Kunsel’ and ‘Ta Serpo,’ among others. He is one of the first Tibetan refugees to feature on a reality show in India and is a well known singer-song writer in the Tibetan exile diaspora with an appeal to Pan-Himalaya audiences from India, Nepal and Bhutan, among others. He has 57 K subscribers on YouTube, 55.1 K followers on Instagram and over 99 K followers on Facebook as of today.
